EFT Therapy

Reduce stress and heal emotions – discover the transformative power of tapping!

EFT therapy is a powerful combination of tapping acupressure and mental focusing. This method from energetic psychology is an effective tool with which you can free yourself from stress, distressing emotions such as anxiety or even physical pain. Results are usually achieved very quickly and there is a feeling of relief and inner peace.

EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques, Tapping) is a therapeutic method that incorporates techniques from neuro-linguistic programming, meridian theory (from traditional Chinese medicine) and applied kinesiology. It is used to treat psychological, emotional and physical problems and stress.

How does EFT Therapy Work?

The application of EFT is based on the assumption that everything experienced, both positive and negative, is stored in the energy system of the body. Unpleasant experiences, traumas, (unconscious) damaging beliefs or stressful life situations can lead to an imbalance in the body’s energy system (blockage). This imbalance can manifest itself in many different ways. Examples include anxiety, stress, aggression, sleep disorders or physical complaints, but also problems at work or in interpersonal relationships.

Here are some examples from practice (the names have been changed):

Fear of flying (Susanne, 38 years old)

Susanne (38) had suffered for years from a severe fear of flying, which restricted her in her private life and also professionally, as she was only able to travel to a limited extent. To change this, she started EFT therapy. We first worked on the horrific scenes she saw unfolding in front of her and the associated fears and stress reactions. Other issues were the feelings of having no control and being at the mercy of others. Susanne was able to resolve the resulting fears and psychological stress within a few EFT sessions. She is now able to fly without feelings of anxiety and enjoy her travels.

Back pain (Wolfgang, 46 years old)

Wolfgang, who suffered from chronic back pain and had to take painkillers regularly, came to my practice on the recommendation of his GP. During the sessions it became apparent that his pain was mainly caused by stress and emotional strain and was linked to old emotional traumas. By releasing these emotional blockages with EFT, the physical tensions were also released. Wolfgang also made some changes to his lifestyle, such as how he dealt with stress. Eventually the pain disappeared and he now leads a happy life free from painkillers.

Self-esteem problems (Helmut, 25 years old)

Helmut suffered from low self-esteem and self-doubt, which limited him in social and professional situations. During psychological counseling and EFT sessions, he was able to work through the underlying experiences, negative beliefs and feelings. His self-confidence was strengthened and he learned to accept himself much better. This has had a very positive effect on his life situation. Helmut now behaves more openly towards his fellow human beings, can make friends more easily and also enjoys his job more, as his contacts with colleagues and customers have improved significantly.

Exam nerves (Sophia, 19 years old)

Sophia, a student who had severe exam anxiety, began using EFT to overcome her fear. Before every exam she felt blocked, nervous and often couldn’t concentrate. Sometimes she was not even able to show up for the exam. This had a very negative impact on her academic success. Through regular EFT tapping, Sophia’s ability to stay calm and focused improved and her exaggerated anxiety disappeared. She can now approach exams with more confidence and her grades have improved significantly since then.

Trauma due to car accident (Adrian, 39 years old)

Adrian, who had survived a serious car accident, suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which manifested itself in nightmares, high stress levels and a panic fear of driving. This not only restricted him in his private life, but also jeopardized his job. Through EFT therapy, including with the help of the film technique, he was able to process the traumatic experience and overcome his anxiety. After a few sessions, the nightmares also disappeared. Adrian is now able to drive again without fear.

Burnout (Sabine, 43 years old)

Sabine had been diagnosed with burnout and was severely overloaded both professionally and privately. She was constantly exhausted and suffered from sleep disorders and irritability. In addition to psychological counseling and relaxation exercises, Sabine also used EFT therapy. She worked on issues such as self-imposed pressure, perfectionism, feelings of guilt and self-criticism. She became aware of harmful beliefs, including that she is only lovable if she performs perfectly. Sabine now feels emotionally relieved and has learned to set healthy boundaries, e.g. to say “no” without fear of rejection. She is now much more relaxed and her joy of life has returned.

What is the Special Feature of EFT?

In contrast to traditional psychotherapeutic methods, EFT not only involves talking, but also working with the body’s energy system. Certain meridian points are tapped with the fingertips while concentrating on an issue. Depending on the problem area, other techniques are also used, e.g. the film technique for severe trauma. The body-oriented work with EFT establishes a direct connection to the corresponding brain centers and the stressful energetic storage can be permanently dissolved. The negative emotional charge can flow away and the energy tied up in it is released. The functions of the stress system, the nervous system and the brain are of great importance here.

EFT is a very effective and fast-acting way of dissolving blockages or eliminating stress. The application causes the life energy to flow freely again, similar to the water of a stream from which a dam of sticks or stones has been removed. Unpleasant, often recurring stress cycles can be interrupted and eliminated. Where there was previously a standstill, you become capable of acting again, your self-esteem increases and new paths become visible. Noticeable results are usually achieved after just a few applications. Last but not least, EFT is also known as “tearless trauma therapy”.

How did EFT come about?

EFT was created through the work of the engineer and personality trainer Gary Craig, who further developed the Thought Field Therapy (TFT) of the American Roger Callahan. Callahan recounts the following story: At a congress for chiropractors, he learned some amazing things about tapping acupuncture. One of his patients, Mary, had been receiving treatment from him for some time, but without any significant improvement. Among other things, she suffered from an extreme phobia of water and couldn’t even leave the house when it had rained. Swimming or going on a boat was also out of the question. That day, Mary had severe stomach pains and Callahan recommended tapping the end point of the stomach meridian (under the eye). After a short time, the stomach pain disappeared. However, Mary also noticed something else, namely that her extreme fear of water had disappeared. Mary was cured!

Everyone should have the opportunity to lead a healthy, free and above all happy life. It is not without reason that the developer of EFT in its current form, Gary Craig, described his method as a “gift to humanity”!
